Micro-Wedding: Amita + Nitin

Amita + Nitin

Sparks didn’t immediately fly when Amita, a psychotherapist, and Nitin, a serial entrepreneur, swiped right on Bumble. Amita found Nitin to be quiet and serious, while he thought she was beautiful and energetic. Over the course of many dates, trips, and eventual cohabitation, they realized their differences actually bring out the best in each other.

One memory especially stands out for both of them. Early in their relationship, Amita and Nitin, traveled to Portugal to celebrate New Year’s Eve.  Like all the best laid plans, nothing worked out how they had imagined. Feeling weary, they decided to let go of their plans and make the best of New Year’s Eve by spontaneously “following the beat” — they decided to follow their favorite music and ended up dancing the night away at a dive bar, perfectly complete with sticky floors. Both Amita and Nitin realized that night, they were the happiest when they were together.

Due to covid, the couple held a virtual micro-wedding in their New York City apartment, inviting family to watch via Zoom. Amita’s brother officiated the wedding, as she had long admired his marriage.

Although the wedding was held in their apartment, our team helped transform it into an indoor garden. Quinn, a talented designer and member of our New York weddings team, built a lush flower wall with pops of burgundy mums, white ranunculus, and creamy garden roses.

Drawing inspiration from one of our original Poppy At Home kits — the Isn’t She Lovely kit— Amita worked with our team to design “personals”, bouquets and boutonnieres, for their bridal party. However, as the ceremony was virtual, the bridal party was located across the US, in New York, Maryland, and Oregon.

In her own bouquet, Amita envisioned a rustic style bouquet, which we brought to life with coral ranunculus, cream garden roses, and ivory blossoms, all framed by seeded eucalyptus. Check it out, along with her matching wedding cake, below.
