She studied Spanish at Texas State University and went as far as Scotland for a master’s at the University of Edinburgh, but flowers kept pulling her back.

At Flourish Flowers and Gifts outside Dallas she did a bit of everything: bridal bouquets and boutonnieres, arch and mantel sprays, custom arrangements and the shop’s window displays. She ended up running the shop, which meant teaching newer designers the craft and getting to know every stem that came through the door.

Her favorite part of the job is sitting down with a couple and talking through every detail, especially color, until the plan feels cohesive and still completely theirs. She loves big, romantic English garden styles. Her favorite flower changes with the season, though foxgloves, dahlias, zinnias and chocolate cosmos have all held a spot on her top 10 list.
