Poppy Picks for 2027

A note from Cameron

A note from Cameron

Every year couples show us what they're dreaming of long before they say it out loud: in the pictures they save, the words they reach for in a consultation, the flowers they finally choose. This report is what we saw coming for 2027.

    How trends evolve

      Looking ahead

Trends are a starting point, not a checklist. For 2027, couples are choosing more color, more movement, and more intentional layouts, then adapting those ideas to their venue, guest count, and budget.

Flowers should do more than look good in photos. They can frame a ceremony, bring people together at dinner, and change how a room is experienced. The most memorable plans consider both: what the couple loves and how guests will experience the day.

Questions about Poppy Picks for 2027

What are the wedding flower trends for 2027?

Poppy's six picks for 2027 are Whimsical Garden Party, Draped & Cascading, Sculptural Modern, Moody Romance, Courthouse Glow Up and Unexpected Layouts. Each comes from what Poppy couples share as inspiration, ask for in design conversations, and book for their wedding.

What is Poppy's 2027 Flower of the Year?

It will be announced in December. Poppy's 2026 pick was amaranthus: It appears in 43% of Poppy's booked 2027 wedding designs so far, up from 32% in 2026.

Are calla lilies in style for 2027 weddings?

Yes. Calla lilies were in 28% of Poppy's 2026 weddings, up from 17% in 2025, and they lead the Sculptural Modern trend.

Is burgundy still popular for weddings?

Yes. Bookings with Poppy's Bordeaux palette doubled from 2025 to 2026, from 4.6% to 9.2% of weddings, and spring 2027 weddings are tracking at a similar share.

Are small weddings still spending on flowers?

Yes. 1 in 8 couples booking with Poppy this year are planning 50 guests or fewer, up from 1 in 12 last year. They spend about three-quarters as much on flowers as weddings three times their size, and roughly 2.5× as much per guest. Only about 1 in 4 of those weddings choose an arch: the flowers go to the tables and the reception instead.

How much do wedding flowers cost for these looks?

Poppy couples with these looks typically booked $2,000–$4,250 in flowers: Whimsical Garden Party $2,250–$3,750; Draped & Cascading $2,250–$4,250; Sculptural Modern $2,250–$4,000; Moody Romance $2,250–$3,750; Courthouse Glow Up $2,000–$3,250. These are real Poppy weddings at their booked totals, not quotes.

Where does Poppy's trend data come from?

From Poppy couples: more than a million inspiration images they shared, more than 6,600 hours of design conversations with Poppy designers, and the flowers chosen for 12,000+ weddings designed by Poppy. Every figure is a share of couples or of weddings booked with Poppy, never a count.

Poppy Picks for 2027: six wedding flower trends

Poppy has designed 12,000+ weddings and reviewed more than a million inspiration images. Here are the wedding flower trends we're seeing for 2027.

Every pick starts with Poppy couples: the images they share, their conversations with Poppy designers, and the flowers they choose for their wedding. 1M+ inspiration images shared, 6,600+ hours of design conversations, 12,000+ weddings designed.

      Whimsical Garden Party

      Couples dream in meadows.

1 in 3 couples share meadow inspiration.

You don't need an actual meadow to get the look. Chamomile, craspedia, poppies, scabiosa, and soft grasses give bouquets and centerpieces a loose, just-picked feel. It's one of the clearest themes in the pictures couples share with Poppy.

      The numbers

      • Couples whose inspiration includes meadow or wildflower designs: 31% → 36% (2026 → 2027 weddings)
      • Couples asking a Poppy designer for a garden or wildflower style: 29.6% → 29.1% (2026 → 2027 weddings)

Poppy couples with this look typically booked $2,250–$3,750 in flowers.

      Draped & Cascading

We called amaranthus. Now it's changing how flowers move.

50%+ increase in cascading bouquet requests vs. 2025.

Amaranthus, Poppy's 2026 Flower of the Year, now appears in 1 in 3 Poppy weddings. Its long, hanging shape is showing up alongside renewed interest in cascading bouquets, draped tables, and ceremony flowers with movement.

      The numbers

      • Couples asking a Poppy designer for a cascading bouquet: 7.9% → 12.1% (2025 → 2027 so far)
      • Couples asking a Poppy designer for a cascading bouquet: 9.2% → 12.1% (2026 → 2027 so far)

      Sculptural Modern

The calla lily is back, and not just for minimalists.

+65% increase in calla lily bookings vs. 2025.

Clean lines, fewer varieties, and space around each stem. Calla lilies lead, while orchids and anthurium serve as focal points. A few well-placed stems can carry the entire look.

      The numbers

      • Poppy weddings with calla lilies: 17% → 28% (2025 → 2026)
      • Poppy weddings with calla lilies: 28% → 34% (2026 → 2027 so far)

Poppy couples with this look typically booked $2,250–$4,000 in flowers.

      Moody Romance

      Burgundy grows up.

+100% increase in Bordeaux palette bookings vs. 2025.

Burgundy is showing up well beyond fall weddings. Velvety reds, plum, mauve, and candlelight set the mood, while chartreuse and lime flowers add contrast: think hydrangea, amaranthus, calla lilies, and anthurium.

      The numbers

      • Poppy weddings with the Bordeaux palette: 4.6% → 9.2% (2025 → 2026)
      • Poppy weddings with the Bordeaux palette: 3.6% → 4.6% (2024 → 2025)

      • Couples asking a Poppy designer for plum: 5.8% → 8.1% (2026 → 2027 weddings)

Poppy couples with this look typically booked $2,250–$3,750 in flowers.

      Courthouse Glow Up

They cut the guest list, not the flowers.

1 in 8 couples booking with Poppy this year are planning 50 guests or fewer, up from 1 in 12 last year; 1 in 4 small weddings choose an arch.

Small weddings aren't cutting the flowers: they spend about three-quarters as much as weddings three times their size, and roughly 2.5× as much per guest. What they skip is the arch: the money goes to the tables and the reception instead.

      The numbers

      • Couples booking weddings of 50 or fewer guests: 8.6% → 13.2% (booked in 2025 → 2026 so far)
      • Couples booking weddings of 50 or fewer guests: 7.8% → 8.6% (booked in 2024 → 2025)
      • Booked weddings of 50 or fewer guests: 9.3% → 10.3% (2025 → 2026 weddings)
      • Booked weddings of 50 or fewer guests: 10.3% → 12.8% (2026 → 2027 weddings booked so far)
      • Weddings of 50 or fewer guests that chose an arch: 28%, about 1 in 4 (2026 weddings)

Poppy couples with this look typically booked $2,000–$3,250 in flowers.

      Unexpected Layouts

The biggest new floral moment is at the bar.

6× more weddings with bar arrangements than in 2025.

Circular ceremonies, aisle pillars, lush bar arrangements, and statement centerpieces for round tables. Flowers are moving beyond the expected places, and most of these ideas work in a familiar venue.

      Ideas

      • Circular ceremonies. Guests sit in the round, with flowers circling the ceremony space rather than framing an arch. Everyone gets a front-row view.
      • On pillars. Tall arrangements on pillars make an impact from across the room. Place them at the aisle or entrance, then move them to the reception.
      • At the bar. The bar draws guests in all night, and it's where flowers are growing fastest: bar arrangements are now in 1 in 12 Poppy weddings. One lush, spilling arrangement gives the room a focal point guests will keep noticing.
      • Curving tables. One long table curves through the room rather than running straight. It keeps guests together and lets the flowers travel its full length.
      • Statement centerpieces on round tables. Raise a few centerpieces above eye level and keep the rest low. The room gets height without putting a vase between guests.

      The numbers

      • Poppy weddings with a bar arrangement: 1.4% → 8.6% (2025 → 2026)
      • Poppy weddings with a bar arrangement: 8.6% → 17.3% (2026 → 2027 so far)
      • Poppy weddings with pillar arrangements: 3.9% → 2.6% (2025 → 2027 so far)
      • Poppy weddings with a ground meadow: 2.1% → 2.1% (2025 → 2027 so far)

      What we called for 2026

We make predictions every year. Here are the trends that showed up in what couples asked for and booked.

      • Amaranthus, Poppy's 2026 Flower of the Year. A former accent stem that became a go-to for adding length, texture, and movement. Poppy weddings with amaranthus in their designs: 14% → 32% (2025 → 2026)
      • Chartreuse & Lime. Our best color call: bright green, often paired with burgundy, went from a rare pick to nearly a quarter of couples. Couples who booked picking lime in Poppy's style quiz: 1.5% → 23% (2025 → 2026 weddings)
      • Burgundy & Bordeaux. Bordeaux palettes doubled, bringing deeper reds and wine tones into more floral plans. Poppy weddings with the Bordeaux palette: 4.6% → 9.2% (2025 → 2026)
      • Canary Yellow. Yellow held steady at about 3 in 10 couples, just as we predicted. Couples who booked picking yellow in Poppy's style quiz: 33% → 29% (2025 → 2026 weddings)
      • White. White palettes nearly doubled, and about 3 in 4 couples still pick white in the style quiz. Poppy weddings with the Elegant White palette: 27% → 40% (2025 → 2026)

      Flowers to watch

The stems Poppy expects to see more of in 2027, and how couples are using them.

      • Tulips. Fast-rising in couples' inspiration, tulips are moving into cascading bouquets and centerpieces. 5% of 2026 weddings, up from 2%.
      • Calla lilies. Callas are moving beyond minimalism, with exposed stems and more natural, sculptural shapes. 28% of 2026 weddings, up from 17%.
      • Amaranthus. Last year's Flower of the Year is still climbing, bringing movement to bouquets, tables, and ceremony flowers. 32% of 2026 weddings, up from 14%.
      • Hydrangeas. Hydrangeas are adding volume and texture to more sculptural arrangements and installations. 47% of 2026 weddings, up from 19%.
      • Natural grasses. Soft, living texture for meadows, bouquets, and installations.
      • Anthurium. In the pictures of couples marrying in 2027, 1.6× as often: the sculptural focal flower.
      • Gerbera. Back, and not the way you remember: spider petals in cream and soft green.

The 2027 Flower of the Year

To be announced in December. Our 2026 pick: amaranthus. It appears in 43% of Poppy's booked 2027 wedding designs so far, up from 32% in 2026.

      How trends evolve

      • Bright jewel tones → Moody Romance. Bright berry, red, blue, and purple gave way to deeper, tonal palettes. Burgundy and Bordeaux kept the color bold, but made the overall look more layered. Poppy weddings with the Jewel Tones palette: 6% → 1% (2024 → 2026) Poppy weddings with the Bordeaux palette: 3.6% → 9.2% (2024 → 2026)
      • Pampas → Natural grasses. Couples still want texture. They are choosing soft, living grasses over dried pampas. Google searches for “pampas grass wedding”: -64% Couples whose inspiration includes natural grasses: 9.1% → 12.9% (2026 → 2027 weddings)

      How we know

      Inspiration images
Share of couples whose inspiration pictures show it, among pictures shared since February 2026 (one labeling method); couples marrying in 2026 re-weighted to 2027's wedding months.
      Design conversations
Share of couples who raised it in a consultation with Poppy, couples marrying in 2026 (re-weighted to 2027's wedding months) vs 2027.
      Booked weddings
Share of Poppy's booked weddings by wedding year, counting what couples selected or had built, never what a proposal offered. 2027 means weddings booked so far. Flowers in bookings are the stems in the recipes our designers built from each couple's inspiration, so they partly reflect Poppy's own designs; couples' pictures and consultations are the couple-side evidence.
      Design conversation hours
Recorded consultations with couples, August 2023 to October 2026. Each call's length comes from its transcript's timestamps; recordings with no speech are left out. A floor: only recorded calls count, and none before August 2023.
      Google searches
Change in Google searches, monthly average January–August 2024 vs January–August 2026 (Google Ads data via DataForSEO). “New” means too few searches to count in 2024.

Every figure is a share of couples or of weddings booked with Poppy.
